Process

From the moment we engage with a client,

Bishop Design creates an intimate and intuitive experience that allows the design process to flourish.

We work collaboratively to create one-of-a-kind, modern and inviting homes that celebrate the individual.

First, we’ll discuss your aesthetic and how you envision your space. This is followed by a walk-through of the area’s together to reimagine usage and possibilities, then creation of solutions centered on your needs, goals and preferences.

When partnering with a contractor, we are available at every step, from initial consultation to post-installation inspection. We believe in collaborative, open and honest communication throughout, while upholding the highest standards of quality and creative vision.

  • Step 01

    Discovery

    Our brief questionnaire and style quiz will help us understand your objectives and interpret them through design.

    Its questions are tailored to give us an idea of your preferences, who you are, the way you live and how you envisage using your new or refreshed space. This important part of our process takes only a few minutes to complete but is where the magic begins!

  • Step 02

    Consult

    Next we will schedule an on-site consultation to become familiar with your space and discuss your project in further detail.

    During this visit, we’ll review your questionnaire, dive deeper into your budget and timeline, and take measurements. A Design Proposal capturing all our fees and estimates will then be emailed to you using design management software (Ivy). Once approved, we will forward our Design Agreement.

  • Step 03

    Design Development

    Now for the really exciting part! Bishop Design will create mood boards, floor layout plans, and 2D or 3D renderings (as needed).

    Coordinating and working closely with vendors and trades, we’ll research, gather ideas, and collect and source materials. Though this part of the design process can take time, it’s worth the wait, we promise!

  • Step 04

    Design Presentation

    Once our design is complete, we’ll schedule a Design Presentation.

    This covers color palettes, a full range of products (lighting, furniture, tile, window coverings, wall hangings, cabinetry, plumbing, counters and everything in between), and a review of all renderings, layouts, budgets and timelines. Since our approach is highly collaborative, revisions of the initial design are usual at this stage to ensure the design fits your vision.

  • Step 05

    Implement

    Once the design is finalized, we will coordinate with trades and vendors until its completion.

    We carefully manage the project with site visits, open communication, and frequent status meetings. If you are living in your home while renovating, we will work with you to find the best time for all meetings necessary to manage the project. Collaboration and our project management expertise are key to ensuring this stage is smoothly run and enjoyable.

  • Step 06

    Source Furniture & Decor

    Now that the construction or design process is underway, we will begin to develop Room Boards to help you visualize your finished space.

    Depending on the size and scope of the project, these boards can include furniture, fixtures, lighting, rugs, wall hangings, curtains, and decor. You will access your board online through our design management software, Ivy, and will be able to ask questions or approve items from the comfort of home. Once agreed, Bishop Design will place orders on your behalf and manage tracking and inspections upon arrival. After all items are ordered, we will estimate our installation day.

  • Step 07

    Install

    The big day is here! We will arrive on-site at the scheduled time to manage the entire process.

    Because there may be many people working simultaneously, it is best that you are out of the house at this point, returning later for the final reveal when you’ll see all of your design dreams come true. We must admit seeing your reactions to the final design is our favorite part! We’ll then do a final walk-through with you to make sure everything exceeds your expectations.
